What to Expect During a Reiki Healing Session – A Gentle Guide for First-Time Clients
🌿 Introduction
If you’ve been feeling emotionally overwhelmed, energetically drained, or simply out of balance, Reiki healing may be the gentle support your body and soul are craving. As a Reiki Master Teacher and spiritual healer with over 20 years of experience, I often work with people who are curious about Reiki but aren’t quite sure what to expect.
In this post, I’ll walk you through what happens during a Reiki session—whether in person or from a distance—so you can feel safe, prepared, and open to the healing experience.
💫 What Is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that channels universal life force energy to support physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It’s gentle, non-invasive, and deeply relaxing. Reiki helps to remove energy blockages, balance the chakras, and activate your body’s natural healing ability.
🧘♂️ Before the Session
You don’t need to do anything special to prepare. Just come with an open heart. I usually invite clients to set an intention—something they’d like to release or receive. This gives your energy a direction during the session.
For distance sessions, all you need is a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed, a glass of water nearby, and time to rest afterward.
✨ During the Session
Whether we’re working in person or remotely, I begin by scanning your energy field to sense where there may be blockages or imbalances.
Then, using light touch (in-person) or distant transmission (remote), I channel Reiki energy into your body and aura. You may feel warmth, tingling, emotional release, or simply deep stillness. Sometimes images, insights, or memories may arise—that’s part of your healing process.
Each session is unique, but most people describe it as profoundly peaceful and heart-opening.
🌈 After the Session
You’ll have time to rest and integrate. I share intuitive feedback, messages, or energetic insights I received during the session. I may also offer follow-up practices like breathwork, journaling, or crystals to support your healing.
Drink plenty of water, listen to your body, and give yourself grace in the hours that follow.
